Party Poker has some HOT promos coming!

On September 17th they will be running a special ‘Magic Hand’ promo!!

Every 50,000 hands they will have a cash prize of $1000 up for grabs and on each millionth hand (since the start of the day) they will award $25,000 to the players at the table playing the millionth hand. On average they have 2.6million hands a day so they are hoping they will go over 3 million with this promotion.

A total of about $200K will be awarded throughout the day.

On September 22nd they will start the qualifiers for the PartyPoker Championships. This promotion is a series of 4 big money guaranteed tournaments with a $1,000,000 main event. A total of $2,000,000 will be guaranteed over the four days. The actual tournaments will take place November 6th-9th and will be as follows –

Thursday November 6th - $200,000 No limit Hold’em

Friday November 7th - $300,000 No limit Hold’em

Saturday November 8th - $500,000 No Limit Hold’em

Sunday November 9th - $1,000,000 No limit hold’em Main Event.

The exact details regarding these events (eg buy in amounts, deep stack, 6 handed etc) are being finalized this week.

WSOP 2008 Update - An then there were 9...

Event #54, the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Texas Holdem event has finally been whittled down to the final table of 9, after 11 grueling days of play! Those players with their seat assignments and chip counts are:
Seat 1: Dennis Phillips - 26,295,000
Seat 2: Craig Marquis - 10,210,000
Seat 3: Ylon Schwartz - 12,525,000
Seat 4: Scott Montgomery - 19,690,000
Seat 5: Darus Suharto - 12,520,000
Seat 6: David 'Chino' Rheem - 10,230,000
Seat 7: Ivan Demidov - 24,400,000
Seat 8: Kelly Kim - 2,620,000
Seat 9: Peter Eastgate - 18,375,000

It will be 117 days before these players meet again to determine the WSOP champ.

Each player takes home with them $900,670, which is the guaranteed 9th place amount. Additional monies will be rewarded based on finish when they resume play 0n November 9th and 10th.

The last remaining lady in the event, Tiffany Michelle, was eliminated in 17th place winning $334,534.... shame, cuz she would have added some beauty to the final table.....

WSOP 2008 Day 44 Update

Event #54, the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Texas Holdem event Day 6 played down to the final 27, with Notable pros, Victor Ramdin, Phil Hellmuth, Kido Pham, and Mike Matusow ALL busting out!

The chip leader is Craig Marquis, with 11,300,000 in chips. The lone lady in the field, Hottie Tiffany Michelle is among the chipleaders.

An aquaintance, who I've met at several trade shows, placed a VERY respectable 44th, and earned $154,401.

Play resumes today at Noon to determine the final table.... then we wait till November....sigh.....

WSOP 2008 Day 43 Update

Event #54, the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Texas Holdem event Day 5 played down to 79 players when they stopped for the night. They will return today to play down to 27. Past champion Phil Hellmuth, and Mike Matusow are both still alive, while Jeff Madsen, Allen Cunningham, Hoyt Corkins, and Gus Hansen are all out of the action.

The chip leader at this poitn is Mark Ketteringham, with 5,800,000....

WSOP 2008 Day 42 Updates

Event #54, the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Texas Holdem Day three played down to 474 players, with the Million Chip mark being broken by Jeremiah Smith. Many notable pros survived, including: Phil Hellmuth, Mike Matusow, Johnny Chan, Gus Hansen, Hoyt Corkins, and Allen Cunningham.

Day 4 was played fast and furious, ending earlier than expected due to the number of players dropping, with 189 still in the field! They are at level 19, with blinds at 5,000/10,000 and a 1,000 ante. The chip leader is Jeremy Joseph, with 3,100,000 in chips.

Gus Hansen, Mike Matusow, Hoyt Corkins, and Phil Hellmuth are still hanging on, with Hansen being in the best chip position with 1,400,000!

Play will resume today at Noon..... they will play down to the final 27 tomorrow, and determine the final table of 9 on Monday!

WSOP 2008 Day 40 Updates

Event #54, the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Texas Holdem event began day 2B with almost 2400 players, and 855 made it to play day three. There will be 1324 players gathering today to play for the title, with 666 making the money.

Joe Hachem, David Sklansky, Phil Laak, and Carlos Motrensen did not survive day 2....

WSOP 2008 Day 39 Updates

Event #54, the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Texas Holdem event began day 2A ended with 469 players moving on to day 3.

Today at noon, day 2B will see players from days 1C and 1D take their seats in an attempt to move on to day 3.

The current chip leader is Brian Schaedlich with 745,000 in chips, far out distancing his rivals at this stage of play....

WSOP 2008 Day 38 Updates

Event #54, the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Texas Holdem event began day 1drew more than 2000 players, and just under 1400 of those went on to day 2.

The totals for the event are 6844 total entries, of which 666 will end up in the money. First place will be a whopping $9,119,517 this year!

Today is a 'rest' day, and play will resume tomorrow with day 2A.....

Event #54, the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Texas Holdem event began day 1C with 1928 players. Thats the most of the three days played, and 1071 of those will play on to day two. They may crack 6000 yet, if day 1D ( today ) draws a good crowd ( 1500 ).

WSOP 2008 Day 35 Updates

Event #53, a $1500 Limit Texas Holdem Shootout was finally won by Matt Graham, who took his first bracelet, and $278,180. Jean-Robert Bellande took second place, worth $173,564.

Event #54, the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Texas Holdem day 1a drew 1,297 players, which is considerably under what I would have expected!! It looks like they will struggle to get 5000 for the event this year, making it the least in the past several years!
Only 657 players advanced from this field, and now have a few days off while the other three 'day 1's' play down....

WSOP 2008 Day 34 Updates

Event #52, a $1500 No Limit Texas Holdem event was won by David Daneshgar, who took the bracelet and $625,443. Taking second place, worth $385,974 was Scott Sitron.

Event #53, a $1500 Limit Texas Holdem Shootout is down to 4 players as of this writing (8AM est), with Jean-Robert Bellande with a HUGE chip lead. They are playing it till the end!

Well, today starts the FIRST of FOUR day one sittings, for the Main Event. This is Event #54, the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Texas Holdem tournament.
For the next four days one quarter of the field will meet at Noon, to pair down what is expected to be 6,000+ players!

WSOP 2008 Day 33 Updates

Event #50, the $10,000 World Championship Pot Limit Omaha event was won by Marty Smyth, who took the bracelet and $859,532. Second place went to Peter Jetten, worth $528,257. Overnight chipleader Michael Mizrachi took down thrid.

Event #51, a $1500 H.O.R.S.E. event was won by James Schaaf, who took the bracelet and first place money worth $256,412. Taking second place, worth $158,933, was Tommy Hang. Phil Hellmuth ended up taking thrid!

Event #52, a $1500 No Limit Texas Holdem event is down to the final table, with play set to resume today at 2PM. The players are:

Today, there is a $5000 Ante Up for Africa charity at 3PM, and a media event, as things are set to conclude prior to tomorrow's start of the main event.

The Main event begins day 1 tomorrow at Noon. The only other event scheduled , is the annual Casino Employee No Limit Texas Holdem event which will start Next Monday.

WSOP 2008 Day 33 Updates

Event #49, a $1500 No Limit Texas Holdem event was won by JC Tran, who won his first bracelet, and $631,170. Taking second place was Rasmus Nielsen, worth $389,557.

Event #50, the $10,000 World Championship Pot Limit Omaha event is down to the final 9, after a 15 hour session yesterday! The final players will resume today at 3, and are:

Event #53, a $1500 Limit Texas Holdem Shootout will get underway today, and is the last event before the MAIN EVENT.
