Mortensen Wins 2007 WPT Championship!

Carlos Mortensen won the 2007 WPT Championship, collecting almost 4 MILLION for his effort. That may not be the most amazing thing about this win though! He is THE FIRST player to win both this AND the WSOP Main Event! Mortensen entered the final table 2nd in chip count!

There were 639 Entries into this $25K buy-in event!

The final table results were:

3. Paul Lee $1,082,920
4.Guy Laliberte $696,220
5. Tim Phan $464,110
6. Mike Wattel $309,405

New Internet Gambling bill introduced...

In a press release dated April 26, 2007, H.R.2046, the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act of 2007 was introduced! This would create exemptions to the ban on Online Gambling for properly licensed operators, allowing Americans to LAWFULLY bet online!!!

Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) had this to say: “The existing legislation is an inappropriate interference on the personal freedom of Americans and this interference should be undone,” said. Rep. Frank.

Repeal of Online Gambling Bill?

According to gambling911.com, There will be a bill introduced to congress tomorrow by Sen Barney Franks to repeal the ban on online Gambling. The full story can be found HERE

Franks was quoted when speaking to a community bankers group:

"Why anyone thinks it is any of my business why some adult wants to gamble is absolutely beyond me"

Playing Nice online....

There are some things, that just need to be re-visited from time to time... like Poker etiquette! Since I play Texas Holdem Poker at several online rooms I see the same things in people.....

Whether or not you play like a champion, you can act like a champion.

Treat others as you would like to be treated. There is no point in being rude!

Do not harass or intimidate other players at the table.

Do not criticize your opponents' play. Not everyone has the same understanding of the game, and it is easy to take exception to how someone else plays. REMEMBER, it is their hand to play as THEY see fit, EVEN if it is NOT the correct play!

Foul or offensive language in chat is not tolerated.

Do not type in capital letters as it appears you are shouting.

As we all know, poker is sometimes frustrating. Bad beats are a part of the game, and they seem to happen more in online play. When they happen to you, take them in stride. Try chatting "Nice Catch" or "Nice Hand" to your opponent OR don’t make a comment at all. You can say what you really feel out loud, just don’t type it!

Attempt to repeal UIGBE!!

Barny Frank, Chairman of the House Finance Committee, is considering introducing legislation that will repeal the current UIGBE bullshit that was included in the Port Authority Act last fall. This act is what caused MOST of the popular poker rooms to STOP taking US players.

It is up to YOU, the poker playing public to get behind this bill, and let your legislature's know that you think it's TOTALY BULLSHIT!

Bill to repeal UIGEA?

Congressman Barny Frank told Poker Player Newspaper, that a bill would be filed later this month!
