2006 WSOP Day 32

James Gorham won Event #37 ,$1,500 No Limit Texas Holdem, earning $765,226 and a coveted WSOP bracelet.

Today, the long anticipated WSOP Main event gets underway. This year, the 1st day of the event will be played over 4 days, in stages. They have close to 8000 players entered, and will accept 8800 if necessary. Here is how the initial few days of plwy will be handled....

Day one of play begins at noon Friday, July 28, when the first group of 2,000 players (or more) plays down to 800. This will happen four times, as groups A, B, C and D all play down from 2,000 to 800. On Tuesday, the 1,600 players of group A and B will play down to 700. Groups C and D do the same thing Wednesday.

Thursday will be a 'rest' day for all players, so that play will start fresh and fair on Friday for all participants. Next Friday, will be the first time that all participants play together!

So, it will take 7 days to play the first two.... then another 5 days to determine a winner, which will take place Thursday Aug 10th!

Let the fun begin.......
