May 30, 20062006 WSOP Tournament Circuit- Harrah's New OrleansWell, after last year's hurricane disaster, and thoughts that NOTHING, let alone poker, would be happening in New Orleans, the WSOP event was held successfully this year! Here are the stats for the $10K No Limit Texas Holdem Main Event: Buy-in $10,000 Here is the list of the winners: 1 Peter Feldman $532,950 816 Posted by fatbill at 06:48 AM | Comments (0) May 26, 2006Played some Live Texas Holdem PokerI went last night and played texas holdem poker with some of the boys from the club for a change. I had not played with the club for over a month, for a variety of reasons... I hate when life gets in the way of my poker! ;-) It was a nice night, catching up with the guys, and hearing stories of their last adventure in Vegas. A couple of them did very well, as mentioned in an earlier post, and some others had some interesting tales to tell also. One satellited his way into the main $10K event. As to cards, I played pretty well, and can honestly say that I did not make a bad decision on what to, or not to play, all night. I simply did not get any cards down the stretch, and went out fifth.... It's an aweful lonely feeling when your cards are running bad, because there is absolutely nothing that you can do about it but wait it out! I played three tournments yesterday, including two regular $20 buy-in ones, and just sat in wonder at how bad the cards were, hand after hand. In one of those $20 events, I thought things were turning, when I started out 77, 99, TT. Then I got 33 which one a small pot.. course at this point I'm stack crippled..... then 99 again lost to JJ and I'm done..... didnt last 20 minutes! All you can do, is wait it out....... They are one of the few orgainizations out there looking out for our best interest in Washington! "In the coming days, the House Judiciary Committee will vote on H.R. 4777, Internet Gambling Prohibition Act, sponsored by Congressman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA). This legislation turns private companies into the government’s “morality police.” It requires Internet service providers (ISPs) to remove gambling related hyperlinks and forces banks to monitor your purchases and transactions to ensure that you are not gambling online. The plan is an affront to civil liberties. If the committee passes the bill, your ability to enjoy poker online will be at serious risk. Each member of the Poker Players Alliance has a critical voice in this debate. The members of the committee, listed below, need to know that Americans think this legislation is a bad idea. For more information about H.R. 4777, go to the Poker Players Alliance Web site, www.pokerplayersalliance.org. Please Call! Tell these Representatives to oppose the Goodlatte plan.

A good sized group from my local Poker club went to the event to play in a number of the preliminary tournaments. Two members of our club, Mark Hannawi and Bob Sands, placed in the top ten in two of those events, both no limit texax holdem poker. Both placed 9th! Mark took 9th in a $1000 buy-in no limit texas holdem poker event. Bob took 9th in a $1500 buy-in No limit texas holdem poker event. Congrats on a great accomplishment to both! I had taken a few weeks off play to get my head clear and get some perspective on things. I have actually been doing pretty well, all things considered. I have managed to cash more often than not, and am up overall for the past week of play. I have been playing 5-7 events a day, and I cash in one or two of them. Most often the cash is simply enough to pay for the days play, which is ok for now. Better to be playing for free, in the long run, than paying to play! ;-) I have had a few successes, one first, and a couple seconds, but most of the cashes have been less than those. THE encouraging thing, is that I am consistantly putting myself in a position TO cash, and there have been a number of times that I have bubbled, or just before, making the final table. I'm learning how these things play, and what is necessary to be consistant in them.... time, as they say, will tell!
